Fox Hunts

K0VVY hosts foxhunts on various occasion throughout the year.

Fox hunting, also known as transmitter hunting, is the process of determining the location of a (hidden) transmitter. When we foxhunt as a club, we typically send one member (the fox) out to hide somewhere, either on campus or otherwise, and begin transmitting. At this time, all remaining members (the hunters) attempt to find the member using directional antennas and judging the signal strength.

The club has many 2-meter "tape measure yagi" antennas, some with offset attenuators built into them. These are available to all members, and connect using an SMA connector.
